1 Non-Maternity Piece NOT to Wear During Pregnancy
Early this week I shared 3 Non-Maternity Pieces to Wear During Pregnancy (+ Postpartum), so I thought I should also share the 1 Non-Maternity piece that I DON'T recommend wearing. I know because I tried & it didn't work out so well.. but it did make for a funny story! Read on to find out...
MISTAKE #1 Sizing Up
I sized up to get some extra room for the baby bump, but it made the proportions all wrong. Think: baggy arms + rolling the sleeves one too many times
MISTAKE #2 True Button Front
At first I loved the fact that the dress actually buttoned all the way up the front for a postpartum nursing friendly option. However, it became an issue as soon as I sat down in Easter Sunday church & my husband pointed out how my ever-expanding belly pulled at the buttons showing skin in places I didn’t intend. Think: peekaboo baby bump + holding the seams together to keep the hem from splitting open 🙈
MY ADVICE:
I still think you could totally get away with wearing this look during pregnancy if you do one of two things. 1. Opt for a faux button front dress (one with a closed seam) OR 2. Stick with your regular size and wear it first & second trimester before your bump gets too big.
I hope this little story made you laugh + brightened your day... or at the very least saves you from making the same mistakes I did!
