2 Ways to Wear a Bow In Your Hair (for a Sophisticated, Grown Up Look)

It’s adorable tied in your little girls’ hair. It’s a major no-no on the butt of a bridesmaid dress. And you may even remembering wearing them as a little girl yourself. But you’ve probably never ventured into wearing them anytime recently, at least not in your hair!

Yes, I’m talking about the bow. It’s fun yet feminine child-like quality makes it the perfect accessory for adding a little feminine touch to your outfit. I’ve never thought of my style as “girly” by any means, so adding a bow to my hair was a little step outside my comfort zone. But that’s not always a bad thing! By keeping the rest of my outfit very classic & simple, I let the bow take center stage and kept the overall vibe of the outfit still feeling very grown up and sophisticated.

Here’s 2 different hairstyles for how to wear a bow in your hair to add a little fun & feminine touch to your style (while still looking sophisticated + grow up!):

2 Ways to Wear a Bow In Your Hair

#1 Half Up Hairstyle + Bow

A half up hairstyle already adds a feminine touch to your outfit, so I opted for a masculine plaid pattern to complement the overall vibe of this outfit.

HOW TO: Simply use a hair tie/elastic to secure your hair in a half-up style & then add the bow!

STYLE TIP: Most bows will come attached to a hair tie/scrunchie or a barrette making it super easy to add to any hairstyle!

#2 Doubled Up Ponytail + 2 Bows

A low ponytail hairstyle is the epitome of effortless + chic, so it was a no brainer style to add a little feminine touch with bows. To spice things up a bit (+ add a little more volume), I opted for a doubled up ponytail for this look and then kept things feeling sophisticated by using 2 solid colored bows in the same color.

HOW TO: Secure your hair into a half up style with the first hair tie/elastic & then add the first bow. Then secure the rest of your hair into the second hair tie/elastic (including the hair from the first ponytail) & add the second bow.

I hope these hairstyles inspire you to step outside your comfort zone a little & have some fun adding a little feminine touch to your next effortless outfit!
