3 Daily Habits to Feel More Productive Working From Home with a Baby

3 Daily Habits to Feel More Productive Working From Home with a Baby

Not leaving your house all day & trying to bounce a teething baby to sleep while you try to fit in just 45 minutes of work for your growing virtual assistant business could be a recipe for complete overwhelm & disaster, amiright?

…but honestly, I’ve been loving (almost) every minute of it! There have been a few bumps in the road & moments of learning what works (& what doesn’t work) over the past several months of having a newborn baby & building a successful virtual assistant business while working from home. Today on the blog, I’m sharing 3 daily habits I use to keep myself feeling grounded & productive working from home mom with a baby in tow. These 3 daily habits have not only helped me feel more productive & actually get more done throughout the day, but they’ve also helped me be more present with my kiddos and show up as a better, calmer wife & mama all around… I call that a win-win!

#1 Do Your Hair & Makeup Every Morning

TRUTH: I’m kind of a monster before my morning shower... just ask my hubby. I used to think I just “wasn’t a morning person,” but then I realized if I just start my day by taking 15-20 minutes to actually get ready by hopping in the shower, throwing on a cute outfit, & doing my hair and makeup quick… I actually feel more productive & more human than staying in my pajamas until after breakfast. Even if it’s just a little mascara & a messy topknot, the extra effort really does pay off - and puts me in a better mood, which is a win for everyone!

#2 Eat Lunch at the Same Time Everyday

This tip may sound strange, but anyone with a newborn baby knows that being “on a schedule” is a lifesaver for newborn sleep and an all-around happy baby. I’ve found having a newborn baby has actually helped me stick to my own schedule so much better, too, which is good for so many reasons. It not only helps my brain differentiate morning from afternoon but keeps me from “working through lunch” and burning myself out.

#3 Schedule a Time to Actually Leave the House

Whether it’s a daily walk, a trip to grandma’s house, or even just a car ride around the neighborhood to listen to music and take in the scenery, it’s nice to have an adventure to look forward to when you’re balancing mom life + work from home life simultaneously all day long!
